The Magnetic Fields play their first show in years in front of a tiny room with a 250-person capacity. Those in attendance received an incredibly rare and unique concert experience. The intimacy of the Iron Horse is unmatched by any other venue I've been to. The atmosphere is also quaint and cozy. On the recording, you can hear the scuffling of feet against the dry wooden floorboards as well the creaking of the attendee's rickety old wooden chairs. This is the ONLY way to see the Magnetic Fields live. My girlfriend Kim and friend Matt, and I were able to score a table in the absolute front row on the floor. We were so close that whispers between the band members could be heard by us. All of the combined charms of the band and venue left me speechless and aching for more.

Enjoy!

==============================================

The Magnetic Fields
February 11, 2008
Iron Horse Music Hall
Northampton, MA

Taping Rig:
Sound Professionals SP-CMC-1 Cardioids > Sound Professionals SP-SPSB-10 Battery Module > iRiver h320 (Modified with Rockbox Firmware) Line-In [PCM WAV 44.1 / +14.5 db Gain] > Cool Edit Pro 2.0 > CD Wave > FLAC Frontend > FLAC

1. My favorite band of all time, never disappointing me, pulled through with another high-energy classic concert this past Monday at the intimate Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA. After seeing CYHSY 5 times previously in larger venues, I was absolutely thrilled to find out that they were going to play a short tour of small clubs. The audience treated the group well, and Robbie even commended the encore break chant.

Alec was in an excellent and playful mood for this show, which was a real treat as his personality shifts from show to show. Sometimes he won't say a word all concert, but there was plenty Alec-talk at this gig. Also of note, Alec is now sporting a mustache...

The setlist consisted of 10 songs from the eponymous debut, and 6 songs from 'Some Loud Thunder.' The choice of songs was what I expected, as I follow the setlists very closely from tour to tour. I must confess, I miss the days when CYHSY would play unreleased stuff like 'Me and You, Watson,' 'My Papa's Waltz,' and others. It seems as though the setlists nowadays stick with only cuts from the two LPs with the occasional cover, such as Neil Young 'Helpless' or Guided by Voices' 'Motor Away.' Despite the predictable setlist, the show was a blast and the performances were brilliant. I plan on attending MANY more shows by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah in the future. *Fingers crossed for another New Year's Eve show*

Enjoy!

==============================================

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
The Middle East Downstairs
Cambridge, MA
November 12, 2007

1. He wrote all "the songs that saved your life" and continues to perform to his greatest capability as an artist. I've been a die-hard Smiths / Morrissey fan for years, but this was my first time seeing the Man live and in concert. It was truly a sight to behold and a night to remember. The Moz remained cool and confident throughout the show, even during a technical guitar problem which forced a first take of "Sister, I'm a Poet" to a very early close. "Don't be too hard on us," said Morrissey. "We're new at this game."

The setlist was very solid, with songs ranging from early Smiths tracks to Morrissey songs that are so new that they have yet to be properly recorded. "How Soon is Now?" and "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" had the casual fans up and going, while die-hard devotees were especially entertained by "Shakespeare's Sister" b-side, "Stretch Out and Wait" and 'Vauxhall and I' track "Billy Budd." The newly-written songs, "One Day Goodbye Will be Farewell," "All You Need is Me," and "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" are all really strong, and if included, will make for a very pleasing next full-length LP.

Enjoy!

==============================================

Morrissey
Orphuem Theatre
Boston, MA
October 30, 2007

1. To reiterate my 'about me' description, I attend many concerts by my favorite bands, which consist predominantly of what many would call "indie rock." At these shows, I usually bring along my trusty recording rig which has produced excellent results in the past.

The postings will be high quality mp3 files, when I am at school. My college's firewall blocks BitTorrent trackers from being used, so I will only upload these to DIMEaDozen when I am home from school (May - Aug, and a few various weekends year-round).

The postings will typically occur within three days of the concert, and during lulls between shows, I may post a boot or two from my past to keep you all interested.

A final word that I would like to offer is this: Don't ever take tapers for granted. Our recordings, downloaded effortlessly by the public, take enormous amounts of money, time, and patience; but it is all for the greater good of the music community and for mass amounts of people to enjoy concert recordings, especially the attendees of a particular concert.

Disclaimer: The Bootie Blog hosts mp3 files of concert recordings that are not available for purchase anywhere, on any format. If you are an artist (or representative of an artist) and do not want your shows shared for free among fans, please e-mail me and any shows previously posted will be removed and no additional recordings will be added in the future. Mind you, this site is completely not-for-profit. I do not make a penny off of these recordings like those scummy eBay sellers who sell discs for loads of cash. These recordings are made by fans, for fans. Amen.
