Bright Eyes - November 18, 2007 - The Palladium, Worcester, MA

Here is my excellent recording of a great show from Bright Eyes. This was my first time seeing Oberst and his band, and they really put on a great show. I was personally hoping for a few more songs from 'Cassadaga,' but overall, the setlist was pleasing. The Palladium was a great venue for Bright Eyes. Perfect size, and the mood for the show was just right. The sound was excellent at this site as well; the mix in the room was perfect.

Enjoy!

PS- If any of you have an extra moment, check out the Felice Brothers online. They gave one of the best opening sets I've ever seen!

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - November 12, 2007 - The Middle East, Cambridge, MA

What can I say about Clap Your Hands Say Yeah? My favorite band of all time, never disappointing me, pulled through with another high-energy classic concert this past Monday at the intimate Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA. After seeing CYHSY 5 times previously in larger venues, I was absolutely thrilled to find out that they were going to play a short tour of small clubs. The audience treated the group well, and Robbie even commended the encore break chant.

Alec was in an excellent and playful mood for this show, which was a real treat as his personality shifts from show to show. Sometimes he won't say a word all concert, but there was plenty Alec-talk at this gig. Also of note, Alec is now sporting a mustache...

The setlist consisted of 10 songs from the eponymous debut, and 6 songs from 'Some Loud Thunder.' The choice of songs was what I expected, as I follow the setlists very closely from tour to tour. I must confess, I miss the days when CYHSY would play unreleased stuff like 'Me and You, Watson,' 'My Papa's Waltz,' and others. It seems as though the setlists nowadays stick with only cuts from the two LPs with the occasional cover, such as Neil Young 'Helpless' or Guided by Voices' 'Motor Away.' Despite the predictable setlist, the show was a blast and the performances were brilliant. I plan on attending MANY more shows by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah in the future. *Fingers crossed for another New Year's Eve show*

Enjoy!
